Vaughan aided people in their time of need

About 10 years ago, a spring storm hit Greensboro. Our neighborhood, Forest Valley, was without power for several days.

Duke Power was giving out erroneous telephone information as to when our power would be restored. This went on for five days.

Most of the residents were retired and dependent on electricity. Some depended on various machines powered by electricity for health reasons.

After getting nowhere by calling Duke Power, I called the work number for Nancy Vaughan and explained our dilemma.

Mrs. Vaughan contacted Duke Power, and our power was restored shortly after. She made sure that we were all OK and set up and attended a neighborhood meeting with the head of Duke Power along with their engineer.

At that meeting we were promised that all future information given out by Duke would be accurate and dependable. All necessary trees were trimmed back and that ended the problem.

Mrs. Vaughan went out of her way to help us at a time when we were in need. I hope everyone will vote for her on Nov. 3.
