APPALACHIAN STATE 2, UNCG 1: J.J. Elder scored with 2:39 remaining in the first overtime period to lift Appalachian State. The Spartans, who had won their previous two matches, jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Matt Foxx scored 14:16 into the match.

ELON: The Phoenix notched a 10th-place showing at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Conference rival College of Charleston. Tara McFadden finishing in a tie for sixth in the 93-golfer field.
AWARDS
GREENSBORO: Women's swimming standout Alex Cooke and soccer star Andrew Clark were presented the Fred Joseph Award, the highest athletic honor presented at Greensboro College.
UNCG: Midfielder A.J. Nelson is the SoCon's men's soccer player of the week.
COLLEGE HONORS
WOMEN'S SOCCER: Sewanee freshman midfielder Bess Goodman (Grimsley) has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Goodman scored the winning goals in the Tigers' 1-0 victory over Hendrix on Friday and their 2-0 shutout of Rhodes on Sunday.
