GREENSBORO — An overturned tractor-trailer closed northbound Interstate 85 for much of Tuesday, but some lanes are now open.

The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday near Grandover Resort at Mile Marker 118. Firefighters had to cut the driver out of the overturned truck, but he did not suffer serious injuries.

State troopers initially closed northbound I-85 near U.S. 29/70 and the ramp from northbound I-85 to Business 85. The center and left lane of I-85 have reopened; other lanes were expected to reopen by 8 p.m.

Traffic is being diverted onto N.C. 62 East to U.S. 220 North.

Hazardous material teams went to the scene to clean up a spill of acrylic acid from the truck.
