WINSTON-SALEM (AP) — A panel assigned to find a new tenant for the Dell Inc. computer assembly plant near Winston-Salem includes an official from Dell.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported today that Mayor Allen Joines formed the task force, whose members include officials from the N.C. Commerce Department.

Task force member Bob Leak, president of Winston-Salem Business Inc., said the plant has about 700,000 square feet. It has an open architecture and truck access on two sides.

The building will be attractive to a small number of companies because of its size, Leak said.

Dell plans to close in January and put 900 people out of work.

Hewlitt Packard should take occupancy of this building , Google could enter a great opportunity for another Datacenter for the East Coast.Apple could build on the East Coast too just like on the West Coast.

Thanks for killing the American dream for many here in the area Michael Dell and Perot Jr.
You are both a work of art in Ultimate Greed !

it's not Dells fault they have to close their doors. I think it's fairly obvious why many businesses are closing up in this state. Look at how they're always looking to raise and impose new taxes, taxes hurt consumers but they also hurt businesses. Taxes are the main reason why so many people remain unemployed, new taxes this and new taxes that. This state is tax happy is what the problem really is, and I think it's appalling. I just read recently about I believe 3 states that are thinking of collecting on taxes and coming down on online businesses trying to force them to collect a state tax. Guess what, nc was one of those states, it's no damn wonder businesses don't like to stick around here, they're nuts for making people pay taxes.

Maybe someday the government will start caring and stop misusing money that people pay to them but I highly doubt that. Dell did nothing wrong it's the fine state of north carolina and its tax happy government that drives businesses away.

They should use the building as a training facility to teach people ethics, morals (not talking about religion here), responsibility to community, responsibility, spending money locally and supporting local businesses, etc!

Yes, and right behind Mr. Dell, put all the City Council, Judges, Lawyers, Commissionors, Bank Presidents just to name a few or the list will go on and on. People are being taxed to death. They keep on they are going to tax themselves into a very big GHOST TOWN or should I say STATE. North Carolina the state that was. Wonder how much they will try to sell a STATE OF GHOST TOWNS for?
