WINSTON-SALEM — A man faces drug and weapon charges after a dog was shot twice Sunday.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to 210 Half Wright Road east of the town of Midway to investigate the shooting of a dog. Deputies found that a dog had been shot twice.
The sheriff's office did not identify the dog's owner or its breed. The dog was treated at Thomasville Veterinary Service.
Deputies tracked the blood trail to a mobile home at 470 Crotts Lane, where they found several handguns and long guns in a safe inside and a handgun used to shoot the dog under the mobile home. Deputies also found five marijuana plants in an outbuilding.
Herman Gregory Hine, 51, of 470 Crotts Lane was charged with felony cruelty to animals, possession of a firearm by a felon and manufacturing marijuana; his bond was set at $20,000. The sheriff's office did not disclose Hine's previous felony conviction.
Teresa Lynn Hine, 50, of the same address was charged with manufacturing marijuana. Her bond was set at $5,000.
The sheriff's office gave no motive for the shooting of the dog.
