3 charged after shots fired in Trinity

TRINITY — Three men face assault charges after gunfire and a fight Sunday at 5685 Wagoner Road.

No one was hit by gunfire, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, but one man, William Andy Aikens, suffered undisclosed injuries during a fight. The sheriff's office said Aikens' injury was not life-threatening but provided no other details about it.

Aikens, 51, of 6752 Fairview Church Road will be charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon when he is released from a hospital, the sheriff's office said.

Two others were charged with one count each of assault with a deadly weapon: Ricky James-Theodore Aikens, 53, and Bradley John Whetsel, 29. Both men live at 5685 Wagoner Road. Aikens' bond was set at $2,500; Whetsel's bond is $2,000.

Deputies gave no reason for the shots or the fight.
