Residents assaulted during home invasion
Two people including one who tried to fight back were assaulted during a home invasion Thursday night in Winston-Salem, the sheriff's office said.
They told Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies two suspects forced their way inside a home about 11 p.m. at the 4300 block of New Walkertown Road.
The first victim was struck in the head with a hard object several times, the sheriff's office said in a news release.
The second victim was also struck on the back of the head after trying to challenge the suspects, according to the news release.
The suspects fled taking an undisclosed amount of money and other items.
The victims were taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
