RALEIGH (AP) — The chief investment officer of North Carolina's $60 billion pension fund was offered favors by investment firms and agents who arranged investments.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported today that e-mails obtained through a public records request indicated that Pat Gerrick was offered perks like airline tickets and help with her daughter's job search.
State treasurer Janet Cowell fired Gerrick in August.
Gerrick told the newspaper that favors were offered but were not accepted. She says her daughter received job advice but not a job and that she declined an internship from Credit Suisse.
Gerrick says the airline ticket was given to her daughter so she could attend the Bermuda International Love Festival in February by the CEO of an investment firm who didn't buy the ticket but just passed it along.
