Mickie Webster of Stoneville was the lucky winner of a 2006 Chevy Colorado during Drive 4 Shelter’s Fall Festival on Oct. 17 at Tractor Supply Co. in Eden.
Drive 4 Shelter raised more than $26,000 for the spay and neuter clinic that will be built as part of the new Rockingham County Animal Shelter, with more than $4,500 raised during the festival.
The campaign spent more than six months selling T-shirts, bumper stickers and $2 raffle tickets for the truck, donated by Smith Stokes Automotive in Reidsville.
The festival was a success in other ways, said Deb Sterling, Drive 4 Shelter’s campaign manager. Students helped fill the bed of the truck with pet supplies, and at least one animal was adopted during the event.
Sterling said Juanita and Samantha Atkins drove from Pelham to donate $200 that Samantha received for her birthday. Mom and daughter had been listening to the event on the radio and arrived shortly before the festival ended to donate the money.
