A man who worked with a boys' soccer team has been charged with soliciting a child in Alamance County.
William Shane Vanhoy, 32, of Hamptonville, was arrested Wednesday and charged with soliciting a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act, according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office. He was held in jail on a $5,000 bond.
The investigation began in March as part of an ongoing computer crimes initiative, according to the sheriff's office. The alleged solicitation in the case occurred in August.
Authorities said that Vanhoy is an assistant to the coaching staff of the boys' soccer team at Forbush Middle School in Yadkin County, according to a news release.
