GIBSONVILLE — A candidate for alderman has withdrawn from the race.

Robert H. "Bob" Martin delivered a letter to the Alamance County Board of Elections on Wednesday declaring his intent not to seek a spot on the town's Board of Alderman. Martin did not give a reason for dropping out of the race.

Four candidates remain in the race for two seats: Alton “Ted” Barber Jr., Neil Bromilow, Ken Pleasants and Veronica Leath Revels. Pleasants and Revels are the incumbents in the race.

Martin's name will remain on the ballot because ballots for the Nov. 3 election already have been printed.

Gibsonville's town council has five seats. The other three seats come open in 2011.
