Why have you chosen to run for this office? As a lifelong resident of Jamestown, I feel a need to help sustain the town as progress moves us forward without sacrificing what makes our town genuine.
Key qualifications you would bring to the job: I have an attention to detail and a knack for anticipating the unexpected. When reviewing policies and making decisions that affect our town’s future, it helps to think ahead to ensure that we have accounted for all the variables.
Family: Married to Keith Roney for 13 years; two daughters — Elaina Roney and Hannah Roney.
What distinguishes you most from your opponents? As an attorney, I am no stranger to resolving conflicts. This may arise out of an ambiguous ordinance that was drafted or from issues that polarize neighbors. I interpret conflicting documents on a daily basis for work and it gives me a unique perspective for my council duties.
Please list the top three issues in Jamestown and your stances on those issues:
If you were to give Jamestown a letter grade on its effectiveness in managing growth, what would it be? I would give it an A, but we must always continue to work on it.
What vote or decision of the current council would you overturn? Why do you disagree with the decision? Having served on the council for the last two years, I can back every decision that I have made. I did vote against our proposed sign ordinance that did pass. I was opposed to it because I felt that the new ordinance was too restrictive for our local businesses.
