Frank Gray

Office you seek: Town Council, Town of Jamestown

Occupation: District Manager, Ace Hardware Corp.

Age: 56

Education: High Point Central High School, Wingate College, UNCG evening courses

Address: 110 Mamie Lane, Jamestown

Email address: fgray@triad.rr.com

Previous elective experience: Jamestown Councilman (1995-2001, 2007 to present), Mayor Pro-tem (1998-2001)

Other relevant experience: Jamestown land use development committee

Why have you chosen to run for this office? To give my services back to my community. I have lived here for most of my life and feel a sense of duty to participate in the future of Jamestown.

Key qualifications you would bring to the job: Experience of serving on this council for eight years.

Family: Wife, Ginger, and son, Justin.

What distinguishes you most from your opponents? My past years of service give me a solid insight into the operations of our town. My skills as a manager also help in my ability to work with others.

Please list the top three issues in Jamestown and your stances on those issues:

  1. Downtown redevelopment: I want to be proactive in upgrading of our business district. This would help in bringing future shops and services to our town.
  2. The Jamestown Bypass: Recent economic changes with the department of transportation has delayed the start of this proposed bypass. It may offer a chance to review the need for this road and redirect those funds to more critical projects.
  3. The quality of services, such as police and fire protection, water and sewer, and our parks and recreation: With the current economic climate it is more important than ever to control our expenses but at the same time maintain the high quality of these services our residents expect. It is more important than ever to remain good stewards of the town’s budget.

If you were to give Jamestown a letter grade on its effectiveness in managing growth, what would it be? A. The town has always welcomed growth and effectively managed that growth.

What vote or decision of the current council would you overturn? Why do you disagree with the decision? There are no issues which I would vote to overturn.
