BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Thomas Tate ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as Bridgewater beat Guilford 40-9 at Jopson Field.

Tate's 157 yard afternoon marked the fourth 100-plus yard day in six career games.

BC (4-2, 1-1 ODAC) got things started early with a Tate 15 yard run, which was set up by a 53 yard kick return by senior David Argaud, putting the Eagles up 6-0 ith 14:32 left in the first quarter.

Tate then scampered 77 yards to the end zone to give the Eagles a 12-0 advantage.

The Guilford offense manufactured a nine-play drive that culminated with a 27-yard field goal by Brad Scott that made it 12-3.

The Eagles opened the second quarter scoring with an 11-yard strike from Hagan Driskell to Argaud, putting Bridgewater ahead 18-3. BC converted on a fade pass to Rudy Jackson on the conversion attempt to give the Eagles a 20-3 lead.

The Quakers (1-5, 0-2) answered 2 minutes later, when a sneak by quarterback Billy Watkins bridged the gap to 20-9.

Guilford was led on the ground by Earl Womble's nine carries for 38 yards.
