Festivals warm up weekend in Rockingham

(Updated 5:28 am)

Pull out your sweaters and maybe even your rain gear because the weather forecast calls for cooler weather this weekend.

If you enjoy eating a variety of food while helping out organizations, then head over to Temptations in the Garden tonight at Meadow Greens Country Club. The Eden Chamber of Commerce will host a silent auction, a cake auction and tastes of great food and spirits as you stroll through and see all the items up for auction. Call the chamber office and get your tickets.

The Old Leaksville Merchants will hold Ladies Night Out on Friday. Round up your girl friends, your mothers and sisters and go to downtown Leaksville for an evening of pampering, preseason sales and loads of fun. Wear pink to help promote breast cancer awareness. Participating merchants will display red shoes in their windows inviting you in for a treat.

Fall festivals are also on the agenda for the weekend. Schools and churches are hosting a few festivals Saturday, and the second annual Draper Rural Fire Department Fall Festival will take place in Draper Village. Firefighter competitions, firetruck displays, music, bake sales and Bossy Bingo are just a few of the festival’s highlights. Support our volunteer firefighters and have fun.
