HIGH POINT — A two-month drug investigation led to the arrest of eight men and the largest single drug seizure ever made by the High Point Police Department.
Police charged eight men with trafficking in cocaine after finding 14.5 kilograms of cocaine worth more than $1.45 million in a High Point home in August.
On Aug. 18, High Point police, Guilford County sheriff’s deputies and State Bureau of Investigation officers searched a home at 2535 Old Mill Road on a tip that drugs were inside the house.
Detectives found and arrested eight men; a ninth man fled on foot.
During the search, detectives found cocaine and three guns. The eight suspects in the house were arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine; they remain in custody awaiting trial.
The suspects were identified as Alvaro Molina, Jose Pineda Molina, Luciano Pineda Molina and Jaime Arana Gonzalez, all of 2535 Old Mill Road in High Point; Jorge Luis Albarran, Celso Azate Gomez and Pablo Gomez Arzate of Raleigh; and Delber Levy Escobar of Houston.
The suspect who eluded arrest has been identified as Catawino Benitez of Houston. Warrants are outstanding for his arrest.
This investigation ended this month. No further arrests are expected, police said.
