September home sales down from '08

GREENSBORO — Existing single-family home sales in Greensboro rose in September from the previous month, but they were down from September 2008.

A total of 523 units were sold in Greensboro in September, up from 490 units sold in August, according to data prepared by Triad MLS Inc. for the Greensboro Regional Realtors Association. Both numbers are below levels from September 2008, when 531 homes were sold.

The average sales price of an existing single-family home rose to $147,391 in September from $145,164 in August. The average sale price in September 2008 was $160,086.

The pace of home sales rose in September. The number of single-family homes on the market less for 30 days or less was 144, up from 134 the previous month. In September 2008, 126 homes sold in that same timeframe.
