GREENSBORO – Councilman Mike Barber will close his law practice and take an 18-month sabbatical, he announced today in an email to friends and clients.
Barber stopped taking new work this week, he said. The practice will close Dec. 31.
Barber said he is exploring new opportunities for himself and his family, including his wife Mitzi and two children.
Barber previously served as a Guilford County commissioner. His second term as the City Council District 4 representative member will expire in November. He is not seeking re-election.
“I have really enjoyed serving the people of the community and look forward to new challenges,” he said. “It’s been an honor to serve.”
Barber told clients that he will continue to take legal work during the first part of 2010 for a few clients.
He said he plans to stay active in community events.
