Watch for: The running game. The big question mark for the Hokies was who would replace RB Darren Evans after he tore an ACL in training camp. RB Ryan Williams has filled the void, averaging 5.9 yards per carry and 123 per game. Meanwhile, Duke's Re-quan Boyette (leg) and Jay Hollingsworth (ankle) have been hurt, although both are listed as probable for today.
EAST CAROLINA (2-2, 1-0 CONFERENCE USA)
Who: Marshall (3-1, 1-0) When: Noon today
Where: Joan C. Edwards Stadium, Huntington, W.Va.
TV: CBS College Sports Radio: WPET-950
Watch for: A key early-season C-USA East Division test for the Pirates. ECU needed OT to beat Marshall 19-16 last year in Greenville, and both teams are 1-0 in the conference this year. The key for the Pirates may be red-zone efficiency. In 14 trips inside the opponent's 20 this season, ECU has five touchdowns, six field goals, two missed FG attempts and a lost fumble.
NORTH CAROLINA (3-1, 0-1 ACC)
Who: Virginia (0-3, 0-0) When: Noon today
Where: Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill Tickets: Sold out
TV: WXLV-45 Radio: WTHZ-94.1, WBAG-1150, WLXN-1440
Watch for: More offense from North Carolina. The Tar Heels were shut down in a loss at Georgia Tech last week, and coach Butch Davis called his team's running game "terrible." Getting TB Shaun Draughn on track will likely be a point of emphasis this week. How bad has it been for Virginia? QB Jameel Sewell is the team's leading rusher, and he averages just 1.7 yards per carry.
APPALACHIAN STATE (1-2, 1-0 Southern)
Who: The Citadel (2-1, 0-0) When: 1 p.m. today
Where: Johnson Hagood Stadium, Charleston, S.C. Radio: WBLO-790
Watch for: A productive day for Appalachian's offense. The Mountaineers have scored at least 42 points in each of their last four matchups with The Citadel and are averaging 38.5 points per game in their last 10 versus the Bulldogs. In three career games versus the Bulldogs, ASU senior QB Armanti Edwards has 953 yards of total offense and is responsible for 12 touchdowns. The Citadel WR Andre Roberts, a first-team FCS All-American last season, owns eight school records and is averaging 90 receiving yards per game this year.
ELON (3-1, 1-0 Southern)
Who: Furman (3-1, 2-0) When: 3 p.m. today
Where: Paladin Stadium, Greenville, S.C. Radio: WPCM-920 TV: SportSouth
Watch for: Elon's defense. With QB Scott Riddle and WR Terrell Hudgins, the Phoenix has built a reputation as a wide-open offensive team. But very quietly, Elon is playing dominant defense, allowing just 14 points per game (take away the Wake Forest loss, and it's just 7 per game). Furman QB Jordan Sorrells completes 66 percent of his passes and averages 224.8 ypg.

Wake's Riley Skinner is a four-year starter, and he's set personal bests for passing yards each of the last two weeks. N.C. State's Russell Wilson hasn't thrown an interception in 13 games. 3, Two former News & Record prep players of the year. Senior RB Toney Baker (Ragsdale) is the Wolfpack's leading rusher. Redshirt freshman DB Kenny Okoro (Dudley) is Wake Forest's nickel back, and he done well covering some top-flight receivers.

Where: Aggie Stadium, Greensboro Tickets: $20. Call 334-7749.
Radio: WNAA-90.1
Watch for: A simplified A&T offense. The Aggies have struggled to move the ball in back-to-back losses, although senior QB Carlton Fears played better in the second half at Coastal Carolina last week. RB Mike Mayhew has been the Aggies' most consistent offensive threat. N.C. Central has won the last three matchups in this rivalry by a total of seven points.
