N.C. community groups protest BofA, Wells Fargo

CHARLOTTE (AP) — Community groups who think Bank of America and Wells Fargo have been overcharging consumers plan a protest demonstration.

Representatives of North Carolina United Power plan a Friday rally against Charlotte's two mega-banks. The statewide network of congregations and community associations wants the banks to cut consumer interest rates to no more than 10 percent.

The groups say the banks raised fees after receiving billions of taxpayer dollars to get them through the credit crisis.

The rally comes two days after Bank of America announced CEO Kenneth Lewis will leave the company. He was caught up in probes into whether he and other bank executives misled shareholders by allowing billions of dollars in early bonuses to Merrill Lynch employees.

Gee, were was the outcry, when BofA, was giving credit cards to illegals?
Wonder how much that cost us BofA customers?
Yea I am one of their! customers, who wait in line forever, listen to them illegals speak Spanish.
Maybe they be better served, if their employees, spoke Spanish.
And to hell with us Americans.
I long since left them, if it was not so much trouble to switch banks!
Eat your heart out tea parties, do you not wish you could get front page coverage?

How true, Doug Johnson. It is funny that these same community rabble-rousers moan and groan about funds not being available "for the children", the "poor" and the "needy", but these activists are the first to run to the defense of unlawful residents who are over-taxing our government-supported entities such as schools, jails, and social services, and now leeching into the private sector as well. With their policy of illegals getting credit cards, which has contributed to the current credit crisis that now affects us who previously played by the rules, I hope Bank of America and other "illegal-friendly" companies go under!

These folks now protesting BOA are ACORN reincarnated or wannabes. Over the last few months I have been taking Clark Howard's advice and moving my various accounts with BOA to a local credit union. Yesterday, I had to go into a BOA branch and the first person behind the counter who offered to help me was a muslim woman with a black bag on her head. I refused and walked out. That's my idea of a protest.

Wow. Guess you showed her. Yeah, we Native Americans need to stick together to keep these durned immigrants from destroying our way of life, infringing on our hunting grounds, tearing down our wigwams...

We live in a nation of immigrants, ravenscottage. Yes, we need to curb illegal immigration as a matter of principle and practicality, but snubbing a *legal* immigrant (or second- or third- or nth-generation American) because of her religion, ethnicity, or race is just downright immoral and un-American. Sorry, but you don't represent the America I was brought up to love and respect, or the America generations of my ancestors have fought to build and preserve. You represent the very worst aspects of our country and its history.

As of this moment in the United States I am free to spend money and do business with whomever I choose. And I choose not to with a person whose religion calls for the destruction of western civilization, the barbarous treatment of women, mutilations and beheadings, the slaughter of gay people, the suicide bombings of innocent children, and the burning alive of Christians. Oh yes, and the overturning of the western banking system and replacing it with phony-shariah-no-interest loans.

And I'm free to maintain the opinion that your actions shamed our flag. What impact do you think your snub had on her, apart from likely making her think you were a biggoted idiot? If you're a Christian -- as I gather you claim to be -- what do you think Christ would have done in your place? How do you think he feels about your response? You 1.) missed an opportunity to minister through action and 2.) made her that much less likely to be receptive to Christ's message. Good job, man. Really.

You paint with an awfully broad brush, buddy, which makes you no better than extremists who consider all Americans immoral, hopeless devils. If you read the OT, you'll recognize many parallels between Sharia law and the laws handed down through Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy (and for good reason). I personally would rather be beheaded or lose a hand than be stoned to death, but maybe that's just me... At any rate, we all pick and choose from our religious texts to justify whatever pig-headed, ignorant opinion we want to hold whether or not we choose to admit it, and Islam is no different. Many of us think the so-called "fundamentalist" movements in the Christian Church are just as nutty as those in the Islamic faith.

I also love it when muslim apologists get their suicide bomb belts and trash bag outfits in a wad. And I absolutely love it when muslims have to take a dump after having just shoved a bomb up their butt. In this country we have freedom of religion which also means freedom from religion...and I choose to be free of islam.
