It is official. Fall arrived last week and, presto, the air is cooler and the sun sets earlier. It should be a great weekend to get outside and enjoy our events.
This morning, the News & Record is hosting the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce coffee at the 2009 Business Showcase in the former A&H Wayside Furniture Clearance Center on Freeway Drive. If you are a chamber member or are considering joining the chamber, then drop by to network with the business community and for an early peek of the show. The Business Showcase opens to the community at noon with more than 40 businesses presenting products and services. Also on site will be a pet adoption center, a blood drive, flu shots and drawings for cash and prizes.
The Quilt Festival & Sale will be at Eden City Hall this weekend. I love quilts. And the show promises to have all kinds of quilted linens such as pot holders, apparel and bedroom accessories. The sale is Friday and Saturday, so make time to stop by. Admission and parking are free.
On Saturday, the Madison Heritage Festival will take place downtown. The theme is “A Heritage To Honor,” and we all know how proud Madison residents are of their community. The streets will be dressed in fall colors with craft exhibits, street vendors, a kids’ area with pony rides and two stages of live music. The festival promises a relaxing day, so bring your lawn chair.
For all the bikers in our area, hop aboard your Harley and head over to Hogtober Fest at Wolf Creek Harley Davidson in Reidsville. The event, presented by the Wolf Creek Harley Owners Group, will feature a dice run, plenty of games and prizes, a raffle for Harley Davidson jackets, food and music. Registration for the dice run starts at 9 a.m.
