For Ched Chriscoe, using two numbers from his wedding anniversary in Wednesday's Powerball drawing paid off big time.
The Seagrove resident won $1 million using those two numbers but having the remaining three numbers randomly chosen.
His ticket, which he bought at a Short Stop convenience store in Asheboro, matched all five numbers: 7, 8, 20, 25 and 29. He also matched the Power Play number, 5.
Chriscoe told the N.C. Education Lottery that he will share the more than $678,000 he received after taxes with his family.
He'll also use some of the money to fix up his house and will save the rest.
Another Randolph County resident also got lucky.
Winfred Smith Jr. of Staley won $211,657 playing Sunday's Carolina Cash 5 drawing.
The numbers were 2, 13, 14, 17 and 38.
