Center City Park in downtown Greensboro will be center stage for two breast-cancer awareness events this week: Pink in the Park on Wednesday and Pink Out on Friday.

The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging will host the third annual Pink in the Park, a free breast-cancer awareness event, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Center City Park.

Mayor Yvonne Johnson will deliver a proclamation at noon declaring the day as Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

People who attend will learn about breast cancer, its treatment and other women’s health issues.

Staff from The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging and Greensboro Imaging will be available to answer questions.

Other exhibitors include Physicians for Women, Jewel Day Spa, Shalom Pediatric Clinic, Beauti Control, Project Access, Prompt Med, Guilford County Department of Public Health, Vita Good, Women’s Resource Center, Hearthside Healthcare, Moses Cone Outpatient Rehab, Soma by Chico’s, Precision Fabrics, Lillo Bella, Second to Nature, Women’s Hospital of Greensboro, American Cancer Society, Komen NC Triad Affiliate, Alight Incorporated, Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test, YMCA and GTCC Cosmetology Program.

Lora Songster from 99.5 WMAG’s Bill and Lora in the Morning will be present, and music will be provided by Warren Bodle and Allen as part of Center City Park’s Tunes@ Noon lunchtime concert series.

The event includes a fashion show featuring fall clothing from downtown retailers and hourly prize drawings.

Help turn Greensboro Pink on Friday with Pink Out, a free event to increase awareness, raise funds, promote expression and celebrate victories.

Buy a pink News & Record for $1 and get a free snack — from Chick-fil-A at lunchtime and Papa John’s in the evening — and a pink “coolie,” while supplies last.

Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

Nora Lynn Finch will speak in the afternoon, and poet Josephus III will perform in the evening.

Businesses will “Pink Out” their storefronts and buildings to compete for prizes valued up to $2,500.
