DURHAM — Caitlyn Cleaver scored with 4 minutes left in overtime to lift Durham Academy to a 2-1 victory over Greensboro Day school in field hockey.

Cleaver's goal spoiled a dramatic comeback by Greensboro Day, which tied the game at the end of regulation on a goal by Lily Cohen. Cohen's goal came off a corner by Alexandra Fortune. Caroline Brown earned an assist on the goal.

Durham Academy (6-1) is one of the state's top field hockey teams. Some national polls have even regocnized the school.

That GDS played them so close — both teams had four shots on goal during the game — made Greensboro Day coach Karen Buxton proud of her team.

"It's always disappointng when you lose but to play a team like (Durham Academy) like we did is huge for us," Buxton said. "We're going to build off this."

GDS dropped to 3-6. The Bengals play return home Tuesday to play East Chapel Hill High.
