GREENSBORO — Police are looking for a woman who dragged an officer with her car after a weekend traffic stop downtown.
At midnight Saturday, while patroling on bikes, Officers M.W. Gonzalez and M.J. Calvert stopped a white, four-door BMW at Friendly Avenue and Elm Street for a traffic violation, said Lt. Hope Newkirk.
Gonzalez spoke with the female driver and detected a strong odor of alcohol.
He reached inside the car to attempt to shut it off and the woman began driving, dragging Gonzalez. He fell to the ground, receiving minor scrapes.
A police report noted the driver took off along Elm Street and officers were unable to locate the car.
Officers also were unable to get a tag number from the car or view the woman’s driver’s license.
The driver is described as a woman in her 40s with blond hair. Another woman with dark hair in her 40s was in the passenger seat of the late-model car. No other descriptive information was available.
Anyone with information about the women’s identities is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000. Callers remain anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards.
