REIDSVILLE — Police have charged a woman with stealing money and lottery tickets from the convenience store where she worked.

Donna Shoemaker Keen, 43, of 246 Rice Road in Reidsville, turned herself into police Tuesday and was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses and embezzlement. She is accused of stealing $47,000 in money and lottery tickets from Two Brothers Food Mart on East Harrison Street in Reidsville, according to police.

Reidsville Police Lt. Wendell Neville said Keen was employed at the store for about 18 years. Police believe the theft occurred over several months, Neville said.

Keen was released from the Rockingham County jail on a $25,000 bond. She has a Sept. 30 court date.
