STANLEYTOWN, Va. (AP) — A Southside Virginia furniture maker is adding employees to produce its line for youths.
Stanley Furniture Co. announced Monday that it's adding 99 employees to its Stanleytown plant as it commits to making all of its Young America products in this country.
Corporate human resources manager Christy Landon said Stanley has added 39 full-time employees at Stanleytown and expects to hire 60 more over the next few months.
The plant employs more than 800 of the company's 1,300 workers.
Stanley has bucked the industry trend of moving most production offshore. It produces 70 percent of its furniture in this country.
The Young America products will be made in Robbinsville, N.C., and Stanleytown. Robbinsville has already been making most of the youth line.
