Terry Palmatier of High Point is set for life -- as in $50,000 a year.

Palmatier claimed his prize Tuesday as winner of the “Lifetime Riches” instant scratch-off game.

Palmatier bought his ticket at Circle K No. 1510 on River Pointe Place in High Point.

He has already received his first check, which was $34,000 after taxes.

He told N.C. Education Lottery officials that he plans to use part of it to take his grandchildren to Walt Disney World.

Another High Point man also recently got lucky.

Timothy Rouse bought a ticket for the Sept. 2 Powerball drawing but forgot to check his numbers until he overheard someone say there was a $1 million winning ticket sold in High Point.

Rouse bought his winning ticket at Kash Mart on Westchester Drive in High Point and paid an extra dollar to Power Play it. That increased the normal $200,000 prize to $1 million.

Rouse said he will use his winnings, which were $680,000 after taxes, to pay off his mortgage and start a college fund for his children.
