REIDSVILLE — One man was killed Wednesday afternoon when he pulled in front of an oncoming car on U.S. 29 near the Rockingham-Guiford line.
The Highway Patrol identified the victim as 18-year-old Bryan Patrick Sheppard of Reidsville.
At 2:53 p.m. Wednesday, Sheppard was driving a 1985 Pontiac east on Benaja Road. As he tried to cross U.S. 29, he was hit by a southbound 2006 Toyota driven by 37-year-old Joel Clark Fargis of Reidsville.
The Highway Patrol said Fargis was treated for minor unspecified injuries at Annie Penn Hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and alcohol and excessive speed played no role in the crash. No charges will be filed.
