Higher Education Area Transit buses will begin providing limited service next week to GTCC's campuses in Jamestown and Greensboro.
Beginning Sept. 8, HEAT Route 74 will offer four express trips per day from the Depot to the Jamestown campus departing at 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. The bus return trips will depart Jamestown at 7:45 a.m., 8:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
HEAT Route 70 will offer six departures per day to the Wendover campus starting at 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Return trips will leave at 7:40 a.m., 8:40 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 2:40 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.
The service will run for 39 weeks.
The agreement between GTCC and the Greensboro Transit Authority will provide unlimited-ride HEAT passes only on Routes 70 and 74 that will be distributed by the school. Students are advised that they may be requested to provide school identification when boarding the HEAT buses with the pass.
As a result of the additional HEAT services, GTA Route 11A will return to hourly service weekdays, also beginning Sept. 8.
