Woman foils purse snatchers

GREENSBORO — A 61-year-old woman fended off two teenagers who tried to take her purse outside a local hotel Thursday night.

Greensboro police said Jacqueline M. Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, was at the Sheraton Hotel at Four Seasons at 7:35 p.m. Thursday when two men pushed her to the ground. The pair tried to steal Smith's purse but failed.

The two drove off in a small white sedan driven by a young woman. Smith was unhurt.

Police had incomplete descriptions of the suspects.
