WINSTON-SALEM — A 35-year-old Kernersville man has been arrested in connection with burglaries of 10 local businesses this month.
Winston-Salem police said James Williams Edwards was arrested Wednesday morning at his home at 408 Prince Haven Lane. He was charged with nine counts of breaking and entering, eight counts of larceny after breaking and entering and one count of attempted breaking and entering.
Edwards remains in the Forsyth County jail on a $600,000 bond.
Police said cash, cash registers and tools were stolen from 10 businesses this month.
The 10 businesses broken into were Wilco stations at 566 Old Hollow Road, 6205 University Parkway and 2420 S. Stratford Road; Alpha Market at 1101 S. Broad St.; Exxon at 140 S. Stratford Road; State Farm Insurance at 2795 Peters Creek Parkway; La Esquina Latina at 1351 Lockland Ave.; Subway at 660 Hanes Mall Boulevard; L. Fishman & Sons at 140 S. Stratford Road; and Huffs Shell at 101 S. Broad Street.
