Core City and the Children’s Home Society will shine the spotlight on Uptown High Point with Ilderton’s High Point Beach Music Blast every Thursday from Sept. 10 through Oct. 1.

The Children’s Home Society has hosted the BB&T beach music series in Greensboro for the past six years.

“People have been asking for more beach music each year. Now, we can do it in High Point,” said Tommy Lineberry of Children’s Home Society.

The music series will also showcase Core City’s efforts to attract people to Uptown High Point.

“Uptown High Point Association had been talking about planning some sort of art or music festival to highlight uptown,” said Wendy Fuscoe , executive director of Core City High Point. “So this just happened at the right time.”

Uptown High Point Association is a newly created network for business owners and others in the North Main Street district, which covers the area from Ray Avenue to State Street and on Lexington Avenue between Johnson and Long streets.

The Thursday concerts will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 1525 N. Main St., the corner of Lexington Avenue and Main Street. Free parking will be available. Legends of Beach will open the series on Sept. 10. Other performers are Part Time Party Time Band on Sept. 17, The Band of Oz on Sept. 24 and The Embers on Oct. 1.

Tickets are $5. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Home Society. For information, visit www.chsnc.org or call (800) 632-1400, Ext. 556 .
