2 men face cockfighting, animal cruelty charges

WINSTON-SALEM — Two men face cockfighting and animal cruelty charges, police said today.

On Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Winston-Salem police responded to the 200 block of Fanning Road regarding a cruelty to animals investigation.

They executed a search warrant, resulting in the seizure of numerous items related to cockfighting and an estimated 100 game cocks, police said.

Forsyth Animal control also helped in the investigation, seizing several of the animals as evidence.

Miguel Angel Cuadra, 50, of 612 S. Broad St., was charged with felony cockfighting and felony promoting cruelty to animals. His bond was set at $20,000.

Fabian Benjiman Herrera, 31, of 1027 Louise Road, was charged with felony cockfighting and felony cruelty to animals. His bond was set at $1,500.
