RALEIGH (AP) — A man has been accused of obtaining more than $45,000 in health care by giving a Raleigh hospital a fake name.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported today that 48-year-old Stephen Thomas Mullen Jr. of Knightdale was accused Wednesday of obtaining property by false pretenses.
WakeMed police say Mullen showed up at the hospital April 10-11 without identification and gave a false name, address, date of birth and Social Security number.
Hospital officials wouldn't say what treatment he received but said he was given a bill of $45,484.08. WakeMed Detective D.W. Brock would not say how they tracked down Mullen.
Messages left at Mullen's house and with his attorney were not returned.
