GREENSBORO — A Guilford County sheriff's deputy ended a chase that went from High Point to Guilford-Mackintosh Park on Wednesday when he plowed his patrol car into a fleeing vehicle.

No one was hurt in the chase, which lasted about 10 minutes. Two people were arrested.

Col. Randy Powers of the Guilford County Sheriff's Office gave this account today:

About 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, High Point police asked Guilford County deputies for help stopping a white Honda Accord that had left the city limits while heading north on Interstate 85. Inside the car were two people, allegedly armed, who were wanted for various crimes.

A deputy spotted the car a few moments later on Interstate 85 at Youngs Mill Road. When the deputy turned on his lights and siren, the car did not stop. The chase took the suspects and deputies down Mount Hope Church Road, Holts Store Road and N.C. 61.

Deputies put down a spike strip on N.C. 61 at Foster Road, near the Brookwood Golf Course, but the Accord went through the grass to avoid the device.

Deputies put down a second spike strip on N.C. 61 at the entrance to Guilford-Mackintosh Park in eastern Guilford County. The suspects tried to avoid the spike strip, but this time the driver allegedly tried to hit a sheriff's office lieutenant, who dodged the oncoming car.

A deputy rammed the vehicle and ended the chase about 3:35 p.m.

Jason Charles Kennon, 27, of 2115 Lees Chapel Road in Greensboro was charged with eight counts of felony breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, four counts of larceny after breaking and entering and two counts of aiding and abetting a felony. He is being held in the Guilford County jail on a $150,000 bond.

The sheriff's office said the breaking-and-entering charges stem from burglaries in High Point, Greensboro, Archdale and Eden.

Coleda Kathleen Lee, 36, of 111 Quakerwood Road in Archdale was charged with two counts of assault on a government officer with a deadly weapon and two counts of probation violation. She is being held in the Guilford County jail on a $50,000 bond.

The N.C. Department of Correction Web site shows that Lee was on probation for convictions earlier this year on convictions for misdemeanor larceny and possession of a controlled substance.

The sheriff's office said additional charges are pending against both suspects.
