This Halloween, local filmmakers will be given the opportunity to capture all the ghosts and gore the Triad has to offer.
The Woods of Terror Haunted Attraction in Greensboro will hold the CarnEvil Film Competition this fall, and filmmakers are encouraged to shoot whatever sends shivers up their spines.
"After working with a local video production company, I realized what an amazing film community we have right here in the Triad" said Eddie McLaurin, owner of Woods of Terror.
"I wanted to give filmmakers access to use Woods of Terror's state of the art scenery and high-tech props, as well as showcase their talent. "
Registration ends Sept. 18. Cost is $150.
Participating filmmakers are granted access to more than 20 acres throughout the haunted attraction now through Sept. 23.
All filming is scheduled 1 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Submitted films must be between three and five minutes long, not including credits. At least 10 seconds of the film must contain a landmark within the Woods of Terror.
Prizes will be: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place. Prizes will be determined by a weighted points system, combining the judges' selections with online voting.
Voting begins Oct. 2 at www.woodsofterror.com. Awards will be given out at a screening at Carousel Luxury Cinemas in Greensboro in late October (times and dates to be determined).
