The toughest hole on the course decided the Wyndham Championship in the three-man playoff. The first time around, Jason Bohn made bogey to fall out. The second time around, Ryan Moore made birdie to win, hitting a 324-yard drive down the middle, knocking a 6-iron to 8 feet and draining the putt. Kevin Stadler, meanwhile, found the rough with his tee shot, hit his approach through the green, chipped on and two-putted for bogey.

IN THE ROUGH

RICH BEEM: The 2002 PGA Championship winner started the week No. 122 on the FedEx Cup points list. He began the final round of the Wyndham in good shape, tied for 17th at 8-under. Then he played himself out of the Tour's championship chase with a final-round 74.

CHRIS RILEY: A short-game specialist who eschewed the driver for most of the tournament, Riley started the final round tied for the lead at 15-under. But he couldn't find the fairway and left himself too many long approach shots during the final 18 holes, shooting a 4-over 74 to drop from first to 13th. The only silver lining to an otherwise miserable day? He played himself into the top 125 and a berth in the FedEx Cup.

CARL PETTERSSON: The 2008 Wyndham champ and Grimsley and N.C. State alum had weekend rounds of 71 and 73 to finish third from the bottom among golfers left in the final round.

IN THE FAIRWAY

TODD HAMILTON: He'd made only eight cuts in 28 starts coming into the Wyndham, and he was on the outside looking in at No. 128 in the FedEx Cup points standings. But Hamilton made the cut, played the final two rounds in 7-under and qualified for golf's playoff chase.

MICHAEL ALLEN: Already a winner on the Champions Tour, he passed up a chance to play in a major on the senior circuit to compete for his first win on the PGA Tour. It almost worked. The 50-year-old shot four straight rounds in the 60s, tied for fifth place at 14-under and solidified his spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
