Todd Silber
Handy Capable
What he does: Todd Silber has been a faithful volunteer with the Handy Capable Network for about three years. He uses his training as an IT specialist to repair and restore computers for Handy Capable.
After graduating from a local IT program, Silber was looking for a way to put his skills to practical use. He wanted some hands-on experience while looking for a full-time position. He found that the mission and work of Handy Capable Network would be perfect.
Handy Capable collects computers that would otherwise be in landfills and trains people with disabilities to perform hardware repairs and install software.
Silber is a trainer for Handy Capable and also repairs and restores computers. He uses his own car to pick up, deliver and set up computers.
What he tells others: “Volunteering here at Handy Capable has been quite enjoyable for me. I get to help out a great cause, and I get to put my skills to use in a work environment.”
