DENTON — A 19-year-old man registering for classes at South Davidson High School was arrested on a felony gun charge Thursday.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said Victor Anthony Coffelt went to the high school at 2:45 p.m. Thursday to register for the upcoming school year. The school resource officer found that Coffelt, of 2375 Regan Road in Lexington, was wanted in Guilford County for failing to appear in court on two charges of possession of stolen property.
The deputy arrested Coffelt. When he search him, the deputy found a .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol in his pants pocket.
The sheriff's office said Coffelt was charged with felony possession of a firearm on educational property, misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun and failure to appear.
His bond was set at $5,000. His first court appearance is Sept. 15.
