HIGH POINT — A High Point police officer suffered minor injuries Thursday night when his patrol car collided with another vehicle.
High Point police said Officer Michael H. Farmer was driving south on Westchester Drive at Ashford Circle at 9:43 p.m. Thursday when he saw a car pull out onto the road and nearly hit another vehicle.
The officer was trying to check the license plate of that car — a charcoal-colored Mercedes — when the Mercedes and the police car collided. According to police, the Mercedes was weaving across three lanes of traffic, pulled in front of the police car and slammed on its brakes.
After the crash, the Mercedes drove away. Police said the first three letters of its license plate are LXJ and that the car has damage to its rear. Police had no description of the driver.
Police said Farmer was treated at and released from High Point Regional Hospital for unspecified injuries. Police did not say how badly damaged the police car was.
Anyone with information about the fleeing vehicle can call Crime Stoppers at 889-4000.
