The Jamestown Town Council Tuesday night asked the town clerk to investigate if property located on High Point Road qualifies for voluntary annexation.
Developer Oakdale Village LLC requested the voluntary annexation earlier this year and has divided the property at 6020 High Point Road into three lots. Those properties will be accessed by a future road called Gardner Hill Drive, which will run through the property.
The development, which will be known as Gardner Hill Station, will include a Sheetz gas station and retail stores.
Planning Director Matthew Johnson said the property is named for a former gold and copper mine that used to be located in the area.
If the clerk finds that the property qualifies for voluntary annexation, town staff will request that the Town Council set a public hearing date. Johnson expects the hearing date could be set as early as Oct. 20.
