MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina police officer has been charged with drunken driving in the Triad.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports Monday that Capt. William Frontz faces charges of driving while intoxicated, open container and reckless driving.
According to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office, the 53-year-old was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 73 near Greensboro and refused to take a field sobriety test.
Frontz was released from jail later that night after posting a $500 bond.
Myrtle Beach Police Capt. David Knipes says Frontz was off duty at the time and is on personal leave from the department. The department's Office of Professional Standards is investigating.
Frontz has been with the department since 1987. His phone number was not listed.
