LSU lefty holds big lead at Cardinal Am

Clayton Rotz, a 20-year-old left-hander from Chambersburg, Pa., fired a 69 on Saturday and enjoys an eight-stroke lead heading into today's final round of the Cardinal Amateur at the Cardinal Country Club in Greensboro.

The rising junior at LSU shot a 6-under 64 on Friday on the 7,002-yard course. Drew Younts of Stokesdale is tied for second place after shooting a 68 on Saturday. Joining him is Brian Westveer of Charlotte.

Five golfers -- Matt Kocolowski of Apopka, Fla., Eric Onesi of Bear, Del., Brent Blaum of Coral Gables, Fla., Lee Bedford of Cary and Brandon Detweiler of Akron, Pa. -- are tied for fourth, nine strokes off the lead.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

PLAYER COLLAPSES: A North Carolina high school football player is recovering after collapsing during a scrimmage. Fifteen-year-old Cary High School sophomore Michael White collapsed after a scrimmage Friday night. Emergency workers performed CPR and used a defibrillator to revive White. School athletics director Kurt Glendenning says doctors have not determined what caused the teen to collapse.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

WAKE FOREST 4, CAMPBELL 0: Wake Forest scored three first-period goals and cruised to a victory over Campbell in an exhibition match. Jordan Feger scored the first goal in the seventh minute. Jill Hutchinson scored in the 13th minute. After an own goal, senior Kaley Fountain scored the final goal.
