GREENSBORO - Greensboro College has named a professor acting CEO while searching for its next president.
Paul Leslie, who is also the school’s vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, has been guiding the school as part of its leadership team since long-time president Craven Williams retired abruptly last month.
“With our changes of leadership at the College and within our Board, it’s important that we keep our attention on what is most important,” said Leslie, who joined the Greensboro College faculty as a Sociology professor in 1989. “That is the maintenance of stable operations of the College for the sake of delivering a high-quality education to our students.”
Board of Trustees Chairman Carter Pate said Leslie would be the school’s chief operating officer until a committee chooses an interim president and then makes a final choice for president. Leslie has a broad range of experience, he said, and understands the workings of the college’s faculty and administration.
“Until we have an interim president in place and more stable leadership, it will be very important that we have firm oversight of the College’s internal operations,” Pate said. “Dr. Leslie will give us that and a lot more.”
