GREENSBORO — Fan favorite Fred Couples will play in next week’s Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club.
Couples, 48, won the Masters in 1992, and his commitment means 13 major-championship winners are now in the Wyndham Championship field.
Couples’ 15 tour victories are the most by any golfer in the field. He has represented the United States on five Ryder Cup teams and four Presidents Cup teams, and he is the captain of the United States Presidents Cup team this year.
Couples last played in Greensboro in 1993 in what was his 10th consecutive appearance here; he has two top-five finishes.
Couples is 92nd in the current FedExCup point standings and 90th in the official World Golf Rankings. He enjoyed his best season in 1992 when he won the PGA Tour money title.
