Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will hold its seventh annual furniture sale 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Salvation Army’s Family Life Center, 301 W. Green Drive, High Point.

New this year is a preview night from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday . Cost is $10. No sales will be made until Aug. 8.

New items for sale will include sofas, sectionals, chairs, recliners, dining tables and chairs, headboards, dressers, desks, mirrors and pictures.

All items were donated by Furnitureland South from its clearance center.

“We have ton of items,” Robin Goodman of the auxiliary said. “We don’t have as many items as years past, but everything is really nice this year. Everything’s pretty.”

Goodman said the auxiliary has kept the prices reasonable and affordable. “Nothing is ever over $1,000, no matter if it’s a large wall unit or a sectional sofa,” she said.

Funds will support The Salvation Army of High Point’s various efforts, including transitional housing and The Boys and Girls Club. The auxiliary helps provide supplies and repairs at the transitional house and sponsors activities and scholarships to The Boys and Girls Club, Goodman explained.

“This is our major fundraiser of the year,” she said. In years past, the auxiliary has raised anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000. “With the economy the way it is, I don’t know what we’ll get. We’ll be happy with anything,” Goodman said.
