Lake Jeanette area residents will have better access to the Greensboro Public Library services starting Monday.
The Reading Railroad bookmobile will be parked next to Fire Station No. 3 three days a week.
“Reading Railroad started off as a service visiting local day care centers,” Central Library Branch Manager Jim Young said.
“With (cuts to) the last budget, we decided to put it out in Lake Jeanette where there will eventually be a branch,” he said.
Because the bookmobile’s main focus was young children, the collection is primarily for children up to middle school age, he said.
In the coming months, the collection will expand to include titles for older readers. The branch on wheels will offer nearly everything a standing branch does.
“You’ll be able to get a card and books,” Young said. “There won’t be any computers, but if you have a computer at home, you can put books on hold and have them sent there, where you can pick them up.”
The mobile branch will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m on Fridays.
