Think Tyler Hansbrough led the best North Carolina team of the last decade? Or would Felton, McCants and May have been too much for this year's Tar Heels to contain? Get ready to have your barstool debate settled.
Members of the 2005 and 2009 national championship teams will be among those squaring off in Carolina's Pro Alumni Game on Sept. 4 at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill.
Nine members of the '05 team (Raymond Felton, Sean May, Rashad McCants, Byron Sanders, Reyshawn Terry, Jackie Manuel, Quentin Thomas, Marvin Williams and Jawad Williams) plus six from the 2009 squad (Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson, Danny Green, Bobby Frasor and Michael Copeland) are among the two dozen former Tar Heels scheduled to play.
Though they won't necessarily be on separate teams throughout the event, there will no doubt be some bragging rights on the line as to which championship team was stronger.
Tickets are $20 and available at tarheelblue.com. Proceeds will go to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and UNC Children's Hospitals.
Also scheduled to play: Vince Carter, Joseph Forte, Brendan Haywood, Antawn Jamison, Jeff McInnis, Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, Shammond Williams and Brandan Wright.
"The one common thing we all have is that we all ran through that tunnel, we all have the same beliefs on and off the court, and we all share a friendship, whether you played at Carolina five years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago," Jamison told the Raleigh News & Observer.
