The house, called "The Pines," is an environmentally sustainable alternative living house for 10 Guilford College students on campus is unique to the campus. The house recycles its own water, commonly referred to as gray water, from bathroom sinks and showers to use in the toilets. Recycling of paper, plastics, and metal as well as composting creates very little trash from the house.
